Okay so I am back and I am happy to say that I have survived my first camping trip... Yes I am Southern, but I have never camped and for those of you who know me that isn't really my style, but that's okay because I am all about new experiences. It was a really great time with my pledge class and I understand why they made us go camping because it was the perfect escape. To truly get to know someone you have to break down the walls and have no distractions. That's why we went to a random farm and that is also why they took our phones. They did an awesome job with activities that really helped us bound as a pledge class. I wasn't really excited about the whole thing, but that made it so much better because that is something that I was not expecting. We did a lot of fun activities. Some serious. Some not so serious, but the main thing that matters is the lessons we learned and the time that we spent learning as a pledge class. We shared with each other and because of that I really got to know my brothers. Sometimes, especially for guys, that is hard to do. I am thankful that the education team did such a great job with helping us to get on that personal level. I am SO thankful for this time and so thankful that God brought us all out of our comfort zone and allowed us all to be vulnerable in this time. If that wouldn't have happened then we wouldn't be as strong today. I am thankful for this group that God has placed me in and I am thankful that I got to experience this with the best group of guys. I can't really elaborate, but know it was a great experience that I will never forget! Will I go camping ever again? Probably not! Will I hear a rooster crowing for the next couple of mornings? Probably so! But that is what makes memories and that is what I am thankful for! Tonight I am also thankful to sleep in my bed! You should consider being thankful for that also... You never know how great that is until you sleep on a pile of ants... BUT hey I am thankful!
Southern and Thankful
Blessed is an understatement when it comes to my life. Each and every day I am amazed by God's steadfast love. In return, I have claimed this space to show my thanks and whatever else comes along the way.
