Woke up this morning with full intentions of going to the Kappa Color Run, a 5k put on by the local Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority to raise money for their philanthropy, and cheering on my super sporty friend Michael Drake all while being supportive of my friend Callie who was one of the ones in charge of the event. Luckily, I got my roommate John to come along and when he put on his Birkenstocks as we walked out the door I was secretly happy because I knew there was no way he'd be running. If I was asked to run I would have just said that I wouldn't want to leave John alone (lol I am smart).
Well little did I know we would get to the event and Michale Drake would peer pressure John and I to run and little did I know John would give in to this pressure and decided to run barefoot. Yes, people he left the sandals in the car and we all took off on the color run course.
Y'all I haven't ran a 5k since like junior high. Y'all I haven't ran anywhere for any reason in a long time. I had planned to go to the rec this past week and run just a little to warm myself up. But then I got sick stuff all up in my throat, head, and chest it was just not happening. Huge shoutout to the boys, Michael and John, for running along with me, encouraging me, putting up with my less athletic stature. In the moment I was really not feeling it, but afterwards I was so glad I did it. It was a fun time! This might incline me to work a little harder this semester when I have a little more time.
Lots to do this week, but there is not much more time here so I am going to enjoy it as much as possible. Pray that I can have a good balance this week! Also, I will be moving all my stuff out with my parents so let's hope that goes good. I am looking forward to seeing them!
Find things to be thankful for this week! There is always something!
Southern and Thankful
Blessed is an understatement when it comes to my life. Each and every day I am amazed by God's steadfast love. In return, I have claimed this space to show my thanks and whatever else comes along the way.
