On Thanksgiving, I did a little giveaway and in order to participate you had to tell me what you were thankful for! I have been blown away by the number of responses!!! Seriously y'all, it has been incredible! The contest was only over a 24 hour period (Thanksgiving day), but it has taken a little while to look through all the responses you all turned in! So many things to be thankful for. All different and all very unique! I will be sharing those throughout the year, but I did select two winners! It was very hard, but these two stood out to me! I picked based on who I connected most with and who's seemed different from the rest!
"When I think about what I'm thankful for I always end up thinking about our Lord and Savior. I am so thankful that He sent His son to die for all of us when we totally didn't deserve it, but I am also super thankful for the people that He has placed in my life to teach me and guide me over the past couple years. Gracen showed me what it looked like to have a relationship with God but also about self forgiveness, Courtney showed me how to love Jesus, my friend Haley showed me how to be persistent and intentional in my walk with the Lord, I am so thankful for these ladies that He placed in my life. I am so thankful for His faithfulness, and the fact that He never wavers. Without Him, I have nothing. Happy Thanksgiving Cade!! I think this is so cool what you're doing and reminding people to be thankful always and not just on a holiday." - Hannah Corley
I have known Hannah for a long time, but of course as we grew up and left Arkansas County, it is hard to keep up with old friends. I am so so happy to hear that Hannah has a strong walk with God. I think everything she said is so true and I am glad to see that others were able to be a huge light in her life. That is something to be thankful for everyday. Thank you for sharing, Hannah! Thanks for being #southernandthankful
"I am thankful for Stuttgart: the awesome landscape of crops as they grow and reach maturity displaying so many shades of so many colors. I am thankful for the unequaled sunsets with the shadows of combines, tractors, etc. finishing their work for the day. I am thankful for the farmers who grow the prairie's crops. They are the lifeblood of our existence and they work harder than any men I know. I am thankful for the excitement that surrounds Stuttgart during Thanksgiving. I am thankful for the wonderful opportunity to work in the Stuttgart School System and the opportunity it gave me to interact with some of the most outstanding young people anyone could ever know. And lastly, I am thankful for an adult life with friendships formed that will forever mean the world to me. Thank you, Stuttgart!" - Jane Hartz
I read this and immidetaly feel in love with Stuttgart, Arkansas, all over again. I am always thankful for Stuttgart and the many things and people that make it an amazing place to call home. Thank you Mrs. Jane for for sharing and showing others why we should be thankful for Stuttgart. Thank you for being #southernandthankful.
I am SOOO blown away by the responses and everything that you all have been through that makes you thankful today. I thank you for participating and I assure you I will be doing this again! I am glad to know you all are #southernandthankful! Mrs. Jane, and Hannah I will be in touch soon to give you your free Southern and Thankful for Home tee! You two will represent my brand well, I know because we both have some much to be thankful for! Thank you all and remember to stay thankful even if you didn't win this time! You will have another opportunity... I promise!
So thankful for these readers and their responses! I hope everyone had a special Thanksgiving!
Southern and Thankful
Today as I was laying on my couch watching Christmas movies, feeling the warmth of the fire, and gazing at the Christmas decorations, I realized that Thanksgiving break was such a tease. It was much needed, but it is never long enough. I decided the faster I got back to TCU the faster I could take finals and that meant the faster I got back home for a real break. Thank goodness I quickly gathered this mentality or else I think I would still be at home on my couch refusing to come back to reality. I always love thanksgiving break and I feel so blessed leaving home. I have the best family, incredible friends, and a wonderful hometown. This week was SOOOO good. I got to do some work with Southern and Thankful tees that I think you will be excited for! I watch some movies, caught up on my shows, black Friday shopped, ate delicious food, ate too much cookie dough, showed off my bread, and I was reminded of how loved I am. It is so funny how hard it is to enjoy the moment when we are in it. Last Monday was such a great day, but at the time I felt so stressed. I went to class, packed, went to the airport, watched Netflix, flew home, was reunited with the fam, and ate homemade chicken and dumplings by the light of the Christmas tree. I would do anything to go back to that day! Ahhhh I am so looking forward to Christmas break. 18 days people. 18 days!!
I am also super thankful because Hillary and I were on the same flight back. PRAISE THE LORD. I am not one who loves traveling alone, especially when I have to come back. There is always so much to come back to and the people waiting on you are never as excited to see you as your mom and dad are. Hopefully Hill and I can do that more often since she is in Dallas now! Seriously thanking God for working that out the way He did. It made coming back on a cold rainy day a thousand times better!! Love you lots, Hill!
Going home was a huge blessing and it was so funny because I went home with a new look. I have never in my life grown facial hair. I am a daily shaver, but this year I decided to participate in no shave November. Partly for fun, but partly because of the cool message it has these days. TCU IFC raised money for men's health this month by having every fraternity participate in no shave November. I thought this was a great cause because men's health is so important and it is often overlooked. So yes the facial hair did have a little meaning behind it!
This month a percentage of Southern and Thankful shirt sales will be going to this great cause for men's health. I knew from the start of this month and I am so happy to share with you how YOU also helped in this cause. I and many men around the world thank you!
Sadly, the bread will be leaving in a couple of days. Get a glimpse while you can... It is time for me to become a little less amoish looking! (LOL).
Super thankful for facial hair and a much needed thanksgiving break! Here's to a new month, beating finals, and getting back to my couch/family/christmas tree. Lots to look forward to and lots to be thankful for!

Today is a VERY special day for our family because today was the day sweet Auntie Kiss came into the world and oh what a special part of the family she is! We would not be the family we are without her. Kiss has always always loved and supported Mills and I in everything we do. She and Uncle Jeff both. That is what makes them so special!
I have always enjoyed my time with Auntie Kiss because just being with her has always been a treat, but here recently it has been so great! She recently started working in Stuttgart. Ironically right after I left for school. Still a little bitter she didn't do this sooner, but it is still so fun being around her. This summer I worked for her and I learned a lot about the business world. Important things that I needed to know! She is a huge part of Southern and Thankful... Man I owe her big time!
I think last year was so cool because we were both at new chapters at the same time. Different, but at the same time very similar chapters. I loved how close that year made us. We were already close, but this was a new kind of close. I remember growing up and always being so excited to see you. Now I see or talk to you almost everyday... What a gift that is!
I am so proud of you and the person you have become. The people you have impacted. The work you have done. The heart you have. And the personality that we can never get enough of. I know you will always be here for me no matter what and I think that is what makes you so special to me! I actually don't know what I would do without you! Happy Birthday sweet Kiss! So happy I got to celebrate you today. I love you more than you love elf... That is A LOT.
Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I want to tell you all about a little celebration I am having!!

Southern and Thankful
Today is the one day where everyone uses "thankful" and everyone suddenly remembers how important it is to be thankful! I half love this day, but I half do not like this day because I, obviously, see the importance of being thankful all 364 other days of the year. Nonetheless, I do love thanksgiving. The food. The family. The naps. The friends. The Black Friday shopping. The joy. The thankful hearts. Such a great day!
I love it so much that I woke up at 5 a.m. and I'm still thankful!
As a mentioned earlier this week, Stuttgart is the duck and rice capitol of the world, therefore everyone and their mothers are hunting this week! Huge thanks to Mr. George for taking my brother and I hunting this morning along with the rest of the crew. I had a blast! I have been hunting, but I in no way compare to most other true hunters around here. It has been a couple of years, so I'm super thankful I got to go with the fam early this morning. Usually it is so cold, but all day it has been pretty warm meaning this morning it was a very doable hunting temperature. Thanks again for the super fun experience to start thanksgiving!
Like many of you, I spent the rest of the day with my family. JanJan and several others came together to put on yet another fantastic feast. I mean I am still stuffed.
A nap was necessary and Black Friday shopping was entertaining!
All in all I have a mountain of things to be thankful. That comes easy for me though I just really appreciate how others were thankful today. The amount of times I saw "thankful" today was CRAZY. Makes me happy! Makes me feel like I am doing the best I can!
I hope you all had a great day with whoever you spent this holiday with. Thanksgiving is such a special day for me because I often feel like I am doing my job. But with that being said please remember that you can be thankful as often as you want. I know it makes a huge difference just by seeing that in my life and I promise it will do the same for you! Being Southern and Thankful is a very important job.
Don't forget to enter my giveaway to win a free thankful for home shirt. I will decide as soon as the clock strikes midnight tonight! I can't wait to share!!
I am loving being home and loving everything about thanksgiving. I am reminded everyday just how much I have to be thankful for, but my hope is that now you can do the same! I hope you all had a very #southernandthankful Thanksgiving. My life wouldn't be the same without. I am thankful for you!
Until the next thanksgiving where thankful is overused and turkeys are not turkeys... Of how much I cherish this day! Happy Thanksgiving friends, family, and followers!
Southern and Thankful
Living in a dorm/fraternity house there are some things that you grow to miss. Today I was reminded how much I missed my fireplace. This time of year I am always thankful when I get to spend any time in front of the fireplace. I am a pretty cold natured person therefore the fireplace and I are pretty good friends! And that works out real well because we around the Bethea household like to light the fireplace.
I woke up this morning: the fireplace was on.
I got home this afternoon and sat outside: the fireplace was on.
I came inside for dinner: the fireplace was on.
I am watching TV in my living room: the fireplace is on.
As you can see, we do not take the fireplace for granted!
The simple things are the things I have missed most! Happy Thanksgiving break y'all... Stay warm and stay thankful! If you need me I'll probably be near the fireplace!

Coming to you live from cloud nine!!! I am on cloud nine for two reasons:
1. I am literally in the sky and I like to think I'm on cloud nine!
2. I am almost home!! HOME HOME HOME!! ARKANSAS!!! YAY YAY YAY!!
I have talked some about how stressful this semester has been and how sophomore year as a whole is a lot harder than freshman year, as far as classes and activities are concerned. With that being said I just haven't had a whole lot of time to go home. I went home a decent amount last semester. Not an alarming amount, but compared to this year it felt like a lot more. I have only been home once this whole semester and it was for a weekend, two months ago. When I said this out loud last week it was very surprising to me. November, especially has been a lot to handle. I have found myself wanting to go home more than normal this month during all those stressful times. I thought that was really weird, but then last week when I actually took some time to think about everything I realized I wanted to go home so badly at times because I haven't been home. When you are stressed the one place you want to be is in your bed surrounded by your family. Praise the Lord I am on my way now!! Thank goodness for that!!
This is such an exciting week. Not only is it thanksgiving, but in Stuttgart, AR, it is the wings over the Grand Prairie festival. The Grand Prairie is a pretty big deal in my small town. It is all I have known over this thankful holiday and I am excited to share all the great things about thanksgiving this week in my hometown because I will be there!!
I also have some cool surprises as far as Southern and Thankful is concerned! I think you'll want to keep your eye out, if you know what I mean!
No matter where you are right now I hope you take a small second to be thankful for being able to come home. You could be at home right now, home could be down the street, or home could be on the other side of the globe. The cool thing is that we all have a home and we all have to admit going home is something we can all be thankful for.
Southern and Thankful
Thanksgiving break is so close... I can see a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel, but unfortunately there is a giant rock in the way. The name of that rock is "Accounting." I told myself to just get to this past Thursday and I would be home free. November has been crazy busy and stressful. One of the hardest months I have had in college. One thing after another. Test after test. Essay after essay. I never thought it would end. Hence the goal of getting to last Thursday. I am a goal oriented person and when I make a goal I like to achieve it. Well last week my accounting teacher graciously decided to move the accounting test to this Monday, which completely made my goal of getting to last Thursday irrelevant because that meant I then had to start studying for another test. I was no longer on the home stretch to thanksgiving break... I was right back where I was trying so hard not to be at.
The up side to this problem of moving the test is that it was supposed to be the Monday after thanksgiving break, which meant I was going to have to study over the break. So now I don't have to study for Thanksgiving, which is great news, but right now I don't really have a lot of motivation or energy to study for another test. I know I will be very happy tomorrow after it is over, but right now I feel like it is a really really heavy weight on my shoulders.
I would love any prayers for wisdom, guidance, strength, and confidence as I take on this important test tomorrow. I would really appreciate it! My test is at 10:00 AM and then I will be home free... Literally! I can't wait!
This week is always one of my favorites, but it has also been special since having started Southern and Thankful. I have some different surprises up my sleeve this week so I hope you will check back here everyday to keep up with this week where we should all be full of thanks. I talk about being thankful everyday, but this week is an especially important week to be thankful because it is thanksgiving!! I hope you all are as excited as I am!
Thanksgiving I need you ASAP, but I am already so thankful for you!!
Southern and Thankful
When I came back to TCU to begin my sophomore year, I was very worried about the future of Southern and Thankful as a brand. Starting the clothing side of my brand over summer 2015 was an absolute dream come true. I still thank God everyday for working it out the way He did. But like I said, I had to go back to being a full time student and with that, came lots of responsibilities that needed my full attention. This honestly scared me so badly. I didn't want to lose this momentum and I didn't want to just make this a summer fun thing. I wanted this to be a huge part of my future!
As you guys know, a few days after being back in Fort Worth I was presented with the option of selling my shirts at a store in Fort Worth. If that isn't an answered prayer I don't know what is! Brown Bag has been so wonderful and I LOVE having my shirts in a store here in Fort Worth. SO special. I was able to sell the Game Day shirts for the last couple of months online and in both Coker Hampton and Brownbag. I honestly am still not over how well that worked out.
As the buzz of the Game Day shirts went down after ordering, reordering, and basically running out, it was time for a new shirt. The worry was back and I wasn't really sure what to do next. I didn't have a lot of time to create or plan for a new shirt, but with the help of my t-shirt company, my mom, aunt, and rest of the family... God made that happen and I must say I am overwhelmed with thanks. I actually was able to design more than one shirt because SPOILER....I have a couple more surprises coming before 2016. You are going to be just as happy as I am... I promise.
I will be heading home for the holidays in a few days and because I have only been home once this semester, I am more than ready to be back there. Many people travel home for the holidays and I found it fitting that we all need to be thankful for that. Thus, Thankful for Home was born and I am in love with it. God is SO good. They are one color (Icy Blue) and long-sleeve. I am very excited and I hope you all like them as much as I do!
When I woke up this morning I launched the shirt and went back to sleep until class. When I woke up I had several messages from friends and family congratulating me on this shirt (best thing ever) and a couple of different people sent me a screen shot of something Sadie Robertson had posted. She was doing an event in Dallas and my friends were thinking I should go to the event, find her, and give her one of my new shirts. Best idea EVER.
Tonight, I got to meet one of the coolest God centered people I have ever met. I have always appreciated Sadie because of how she uses her gifts. She has millions of followers on Instagram, she is a model, designer, a dancer, and a reality tv star, but what I most admire about her is how she puts God first and at the center of everything she does AND she is not afraid to tell people about it. She is changing people everyday. She is doing the Lord's work like no other. She is the type of person we need more of in this world. I could not think of a better person to give the new southern and thankful shirt to. I hope you really enjoy it and I hope it reminds you that there is always something to be thankful for... especially when you are home!
Sadie was so down to earth in person and I really appreciate how kind she was. I enjoyed getting to tell her about Southern and Thankful and sharing a little of my walk with her after she commented on my phone case. Very cool girl. Unforgettable moment. I am not sure what she will do with the shirt. I mean for all I know some stranger could have it by now. I don't really care what happens because the great thing is that I was hopefully able to impact her life in a small way AND God worked the whole thing out. Just like He does everything else!
I am so blessed and I am constantly reminded of that everyday. Thank you for the love, kind words, and support from the beginning to now! Also, huge thanks to God for being the best guide and walking with me through the step of building this brand. And how cool that today's path included a visit with Sadie Robertson. God is good and I am thankful... All the time!
Southern and Thankful
Most college students all their laundry to pile up when they know any type of break is coming up because they want mom to do all the laundry for them while they are home. Oddly, I don't really have a problem with doing laundry and I also don't really have the luxury of taking all my laundry home this coming break because I am flying home. I didn't really think about this until I looked at my laundry yesterdayand noticed it was more than overflowing. I did my laundry today, which was a good idea because now everything is clean so I will have all my options for when I pack!
Today I am thankful for clean sheets. There is nothing like getting into bed on fresh, crisp sheets. I have been ready to go to bed since I put them on today. It is almost like a clean start. Everything from the past couple of weeks; everything I have worried about, prayed about, studied, dreamt, and everything I "slept on" is no longer something to stress or send time worrying about. When I have any type of decision to make I usually like to sleep on it. Something my Dad has always taught me.
All these things that seemed like such a big deal are washed away and tonight I will be sleeping on a clean pile of nothing! Everything is fresh and new! I like that feeling. I always seem to sleep better on a bed of fresh, clean sheets. Here's to a good night's sleep and clean sheets. It really is the little things in life people. If it would make you feel better go right now and wash your sheets. I assure you, if you have the right mindset you will feel a whole lot better. Oh and when you lay your pretty little head down to sleep tonight... don't forget to be thankful!
