Today was super great day... One that I am pretty thankful for, if I do say so myself! As 31 new freshmen walked towards us to join our brotherhood... I became excited!
After lots of hard work from our recruitment team, today the Beta Theta Pi Chapter at TCU welcomed a new pledge class of 31 incredible guys. Seems like just yesterday they were welcoming me into this brotherhood. Today felt so rewarding getting to do the same for a new group of guys.
My chapter has a recruitment team that spends hours meeting with guys and making sure we get the best pledge class possible. Unfortunately I wasn't part of this team, but I am super proud of them for all their hard work. I honestly couldn't think of a better group of guys for the job. I know they are so thankful that this day has come and all their hard work has paid off. I, along with the rest of my chapter, can say we are thankful for the recruitment team and the loyalty, love, and passion they have for this fraternity. I have not met the whole pledge class yet, but they seem like a great group of guys! Huge shoutout to our VP of recruitment, Tyler Askren, for working so hard on the important job of helping Beta grow in the right direction. From what I know and have seen... He rocked this job. Congrats, man! All your hard work and your teams hard work paid off and our chapter is better because of y'all!
Today I am so incredibly thankful to be a Beta. There truly is nothing like a brotherhood and I am grateful that God gave me this one. I am so pumped to get to know and grow with the pledges. I know the first semester can be hard, but now that they have a home at Beta we are going to do our best to make this the best experience for them. These guys are already impressing me and it's only the first day... Things are too good y'all. Too good!
I am proud to be a Beta everyday, but today is pretty special. I am excited to grow with this fraternity and I am excited to gain more brothers who have the same morals and values as me. I am excited to have someone new to lean on. I am excited that I am no longer in that awkward not a pledge, but we have no pledges phase. I am excited for the future of this fraternity. I am excited to see what God has in store for us. I am excited for the future of Beta Theta Pi.
Beta has blessed me and I feel like it is only the beginning! I am excited. I am thankful for the recruitment team. I am thankful for this brotherhood. I am a very thankful member of Beta Theta Pi! Welcome to the new Zeta class of Beta Theta Pi... Get ready for an experience like no other!

You know things are going good on a Sunday morning when the place is packed and college students are standing in church, worshiping our Lord with no seat. This morning things were back in action at Christ Chapel's College Ministry on TCU's campus. This time last year I didn't have a church home, which scared me because that was something I was always used to having. After lots of church hopping I found my home at Christ Chapel.
I think I have written about it before, but just to catch you all up to speed I want to tell you a little about Christ Chapel at the Aardvark.
I am guessing you all are wondering what "the aardvark" is. It is actually a local bar on campus, but on Sunday mornings it is much much more than that. I can remember hearing about it when I moved here. The immediate stereotype behind the location is students think it is weird or impossible to worship God in a bar. Also, many students don't really like to hang out there on Saturday nights and then come back on Sunday morning. I was kind of in the same boat this time last year, but then I visited and really felt something cool.
This time of life that I am in is all about taking risks, going outside of my comfort zone, and being okay with doing something different. Worshiping at the Aardvark every Sunday is something that I wouldn't trade for the world. Seeing a packed house every week worshiping is amazing. Seeing this at a bar is unbelievable. God truly is everywhere. He is ever-present. Some of the times I have felt closest to him have been at the Aardvark. It sounds crazy, but God works in mysterious ways and I love every second of it.
Today, we were back at Christ Chapel at the Aardvark and it felt so good to be back. Like I said, the place was packed, but it was so encouraging. I am so excited this year because on Friday nightI went to a retreat with Christ Chapel. I am on the leadership team this year and I am going to have so many great opportunities to to serve and belong to this community. I am seriously so excited for this next year and all that Christ Chapel will be doing. God is doing some real work in this place and I am thankful that I get to be part of it.
Come back here tomorrow to see what organization Southern and Thankful sales is going towards for this month. I am super excited about it, but I feel like it deserves its own post. Can't wait to share it with you!!!
Super thankful for this weekend. God is SO good!

In case you need a little weekend pick me up or a fresh start to the week... Check out this verse!
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Came across this verse today and was again reminded how lucky we are. In return we also need to realize how great it is to be thankful! I hope you look this up in your bible and pray over it!
Happy Saturday friends... Stay thankful!

It's #thankfulthursday and today I received a pretty cool photo via twitter and I must say it was perfect for today!
My sweet friend Sydney Nash is currently a Freshman at the University of Arkansas. I have been thinking about her a lot lately because I know what it is like to move to a new place. Lots of worries and overwhelming moments. I have been thinking about all my Freshman friends who have started this new journey. It is so weird thinking about them in college, but they all seem so happy and seem to be having a great time. I was supper excited when my sweet friend Sydney tweeted me a picture of her today with "the boot".
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this term,"the boot" is a trophy that is given to the winner of the Arkansas vs. LSU game every year. I am guessing my friend finally got to see the boot since it is at the UofA. She is also wearing her Southern and Thankful tshirt in the picture. It was the perfect thing to see on this #thankfulthursday!
Thanks Nash for sharing and thanks for supporting me... Means a lot my friend! I see you are loving college and I love that you are! I am thankful for you and everything you are thankful for on this day!
Be sure to reach out and share what you are thankful for. I would love to see!! I hope you all are counting your blessings today and everyday, but especially today because #thankfulthursday is the best day for it. Go out and be #southernandthankful!!

It's Wednesday.. Can we all just take a moment and praise God it's almost Friday?!
Adjusting back to school has just been crazy. Getting a little less overwhelmed, but goodness I wasn't ready for all this school work. It's okay though! I am counting my blessings during this crazy week and today I realized how lucky I am to have classes with friends.
After coming to college I realized that I don't really enjoy the whole being alone thing. I mean it's fine, but just like any situation in life, we are way more comfortable when we are surrounded by at least one person we know. I was so excited yesterday when I realized that I knew someone in every one of my classes. This is good for several reasons!
1. You will always have someone you can count on to study with, ask questions to, or work on a group assignment with.
2. The laughs and memories can also be made in the classroom.
3. This is a great way to see friends that you wouldn't normally see!
Talking about number 2... Today in my advertising class my sweet friend Michelle and I were waiting for class to start. I turned around to ask her if she had filled out this worksheet for the class that was due. Needless to say I couldn't stop laughing because her face said it all. She did not do the worksheet, but no worries with 2 minutes left before class started she got in done. Just little things like these make me smile.
Having friends in my classes is almost as great as finding money in your pocket...Once you find them, happiness is all around! It's the little things people!

Okay so I am finally getting around to sharing about my move in experience. This last week has been crazy!
I had to come back to TCU last Tuesday, which was earlier than my move in date because I was accepted to help move freshmen in. This was a great experience! This was also a little inconvenient though because I wasn't able to move into my room until Saturday. With this crazy schedule plus my parents schedule they weren't able to come down to help me move in. This meant that I literally had to bring everything I own in my car. My car is not really small but it is by no means big. I was basically homeless all last week. I couldn't drive my car for obvious reasons and I had to pack a bag full of things. Huge thank you to one of my best friends Patrick Sullivan for letting me stay with him last week at his apartment and for driving me around. Literally don't know what I would have done last week without you and your hospitality. Thanks man!
Saturday morning I moved all my things in and then slowly started getting everything organized. When we decided I could move in alone I thought it wouldn't be that bad, but I quickly realized that when you are doing all this organizing and stuff on your own, the process is not as easy. It literally took forever! I have also been to Target 1000 times this past week. I keep needing things. My room is different from last year, which is fine, but that meant that I needed some things that I didn't already have. One thing I needed was some type of shelf. My mom said to go to target, get a metal shelf, assemble it, and put things on it. So I did. It literally took 2 hours putting together this shelf and carrying it up and down the stairs. In case you were wondering I didn't get it assembled. I even got friends to help and the shelf seemed like a lost cause. Long story short I returned that shelf and bought a pre-built one. MUCH better idea!
I am so blessed with great friends who helped me move all my things in, helped me assemble things, and helped me get organized. Reminding me why I was so ready to get back to TCU! The move in had me stressed and now class has me stressed, but hopefully everything will calm down soon. Probably not, but one can hope right? I will post some pics of the room below... I am actually very impressed with how good it looks! Eventually I will have to share some tips on how to move in and get organized... I promise I know plenty! So thankful to be moved in and getting settled into Sophomore year. Prayers are always appreciated!

Sophomore Year is here and I would just like to put in a formal request for summer back. I love TCU and I love being back, but I do not love the fact that my to do list is growing and that I will have to start studying soon. I feel like it was just yesterday when I was walking off campus feeling all accomplished for killing my finals freshman year... Could I have that feeling back please?
Today I had accounting and advertising. Both classes for my major and minor, which is good. But let me tell you... It hasn't been as fun as I envisioned it. But I was thinking about it and I always feel this way after the first day of school. The only problem is that I have another first day of school tomorrow technically because I have three totally different classes. I am just ready to get in the swing of things...Already excited about summer 2016!
But today in between classes I was surfing Facebook and I read a really great article. It is titled "5 Daily Reminders That Every College Student Needs To Hear."
God's timing is so good. It was seriously what I needed to hear/see. I attached the article below so please please read it. I think it is something that anyone can apply to his or her life.
These are all things I learned last year as a freshman and I guess it is something that I kind of forgot over summer.
How fitting is it that I found it on the first day of class? I am so so thankful!
*First day of school pic below... peace sign because second year of school!

These past couple of days have been so crazy, but I have had so much to be thankful for. I am kind of moved in, but not really so I am going to leave the details of move in for another day... I promise I will fill you in! But the real important thing to be thankful for today is my brother Mills who just so happens to be turning 15... How did that happen? I am constantly amazed by what a cool little brother he is.
I always seem to joke about how he is the athletic one in the family. He is most certainly the athletic one, but I love that he is because that is a definite gift from God and he uses it better than anyone I know. There is not one single time of the year that the kid is not involved in some type of physical activity. Talk about using the gifts God gives us, huh?
I also have to brag because last week he had his first week of high school. Typing this has also made me realize how fast that time goes by. Anyways I think he had a great first week and he is also the new freshman class president. WHAT!! I would have never had the confidence to run for something like that in my first year of high school. But I did work up the courage to run senior year and I was president so I guess it just runs in the family!
I could not have been blessed with a better brother. We are very different, but at the same time too similar. Today as I worked tirelessly to move in, all I wanted to do was binge watch Criminal Minds with you, bud! I am sure we will find some time soon. I hope you had a day full of all your favorite things. I also hope you enjoyed shopping in my closet today because I am afraid I won't allow it any other time this year. (LOL).
It is very weird being away from home on someone so close to you's birthday. This time last year I remember being so upset. This year is bittersweet, but I know this is where we are all supposed to be right now. We will have plenty of time to celebrate another day!
I hope the cake was good and that your 15th year is even better!! Thanks for being the best little brother, Mills. So glad I decided to keep you all those years ago (hahaha)! Happy Birthday Brother! Love you so so much!!
Walked outside this morning and the weather was surprisingly not hot. It was like a VERY good dream. I wasn't really sure how to react to it! I was talking to my mom earlier and I said it was so cold out. She then said "Actually cold or was it extremely pleasurable?"
OKAY so it wasn't cold, but compared to every other day this summer... It was cold.
It's sad when you think 70 degrees is cold. Welcome to the South y'all!
I was so happy about today because my sweet sister Hill and I finally had our first lunch date as residents of Texas. It made my heart so happy!! I told y'all a while back that Hillary was moving back to Dallas which means I will be seeing her as often as possible! When I got this news... I literally could have cried. Having "family" close to me makes living six hours away so much easier. We had such a lovely lunch! Love fun times like this with you, Hill! Can't wait for more adventures, food, shopping, and fun in Dallas!!
Good weather and good company makes for a great day. Super thankful for fun times like these before life gets crazy again with school! Cherishing time makes life special. Be thankful for that!

Seriously loving being back at TCU. It is kind of weird, but today was such a good day!
I started off the day early helping Freshman move in. Talk about a throwback!! One year ago today I moved to TCU for the first time so today I understood all the emotions and feelings these kids were feeling. I mean it is crazy to think all that has changed in a year. It felt good to help out in any way possible. I met a lot of great people. I think the Freshman class is a great group!
I had the opportunity to be interviewed for a new website called Frog Wire. This is operated by an anonymous group of students on campus who showcase students and events on campus. We talked about everything from school to Southern and Thankful. I consider it a privilege to be on the site when it's published. I got a little sneak peek of it and it looks great. We also did a small photo shoot where they took some wonderful pictures of me around campus, a few of which you can see attached below and the rest are sure to come.
I also got the good news that I am now Vineyard Vines' new whale rep for TCU's campus. This means that I will be representing my all time favorite brand in my all time favorite place. This means I'll be putting on events and giving out lots of cool products.
Also a huge Happy Birthday to my wonderful uncle who always makes me laugh, takes my photos and has been such a blessing in my life. Hope you had the best day ever!
Today has been such a happy day on campus and I cannot wait to start the new school year. I was quickly reminded why I love TCU and why I'm so thankful for it.
